Formally known as the Bathurst Chamber Music Festival, the ClassikFest Chaleur began in 2012 as a project by local musicians Ariane Saulnier and David Scott.
Since then, the festival has presented a many concerts throughout the Chaleur region. The festival was born out of a vision to transform the greater Bathurst area into a hub for classical music in New Brunswick's picturesque Chaleur Region.
The 2021 edition will take place in Bathurst from May 28th through 30th for a culturally vibrant weekend as we explore and celebrate the diverse world of classical music.
ClassikFest Chaleur will be presenting a series of concerts featuring your favorite classical masterworks by Bach, Mozart, Dvorak and Shostakovich, as well as several hidden gems by American composer Florence Price, Argentine composer Osvaldo Golijov, and our very own composer in residence, Canadian composer Jason Noble.
Back by popular demand we will present Symphonic Distortion, featuring your favorite non-classical genres (pop, rock, metal, etc) performed by classical musicians in an open and accessible environment for the adults (and the young at heart).
New this year, we will present a short interactive and fully inclusive family concert where audience members of all ages can learn about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the instruments of the string quartet.
