Pointe-Verte, a peaceful village just north of Petit-Rocher, is the perfect spot for the outdoor enthusiast.

This warm Acadian community will, without a doubt, let you experience the legendary Chaleur Region hospitality.

Fishing is at the centre of the local culture, and what better way to appreciate it than by spending some time watching the many fisherman at work.

At the heart of Pointe-Verte is Atlas Park, a true oasis that offers activities all year round. There’s something for everyone: scuba diving, Arctic char fishing, kayaks, pedal boats and hiking are all local favourites.

Petit-Rocher

Petit-Rocher

Petit-Rocher is the centre of Acadian culture in the Chaleur region.

The red, white and blue – with a little yellow – proudly waves all around this little village with a huge heart. Summer here is especially vibrant, thanks to a lineup of world-class events.

Start your day off with the sounds of Chaleur Bay as you head to the local French pastry shop to plan a few stops at the little shops you spotted the day before. In the afternoon, get on board a fishing boat to bob for mackerel and discover the breathtaking shoreline from a different perspective.

After supper, catch a live show at one of the many venues before heading back to your accommodations. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

Nigadoo

Situated between Beresford and Petit- Rocher, Nigadoo is a real gem for those who like things a little more peaceful.

With parks sprinkled along the way, it‘s the perfect spot to take a nice walk or ride a bike. This coastal village also offers a few fine dining restaurants that are sure to awaken all your senses.

During the fishing season, stop by the local fish shop to pick up some fresh lobster. Truly an unforgettable and tasty experience!

Are you an aspiring photographer? The Nigadoo River is an absolute must! At sea, in town or in nature, Nigadoo is, without a doubt, a marvellous village to discover.

Beresford

Beresford

Life is beautiful in Beresford, a peaceful town developed around a magnificent salt marsh.

With its Acadian roots, Beresford stretches the length of Chaleur Bay to offer the perfect mix of fauna, flora and folklore.

For relaxation, you can enjoy the beach and go for a ride on a Beach-Taxi (pedibike), walk the famous boardwalk and view Beresford’s iconic butterfly – the Maritime Ringlet. For recreation, enjoy the festivals, camping, the Farmers Market, an outdoor theatre and a wide range of activities for the young and the young at heart.

Take the time to really breathe in the salt air: it will fill your lungs… and your heart.

Bathurst

Bathurst

Comfortably nestled at the estuary of the Nepisiguit River, Bathurst is the hub of the Chaleur region.

It’s where you’ll spend the day at the beach and the evening on Main Street enjoying some local brews and great music. Foodies will find themselves right at home in Bathurst, whether they’re looking for fresh seafood, food trucks or cozy restaurants.

If golf is your cup of tea, this East Coast jewel has some of the best greens around. In the summer, you’ll find festivals and green trails within arm’s reach, and in the winter, Bathurst becomes the undisputed snowmobilers’ paradise.

Catch an Acadie-Bathurst Titan hockey game while you’re here and don’t forget to soak up all that famous Chaleur region hospitality.

Pabineau First Nation

Pabineau First Nation

A short drive south from Bathurst will lead you to the warm and welcoming Mi’gmaq community of the Pabineau First Nation.

Here you will find the Pabineau River, a tributary of the Nepisiguit River, that has historically been known to the Mi’gmaq as “Oasapegel” or “flowing brightly.” This is also the location of the Pabineau Falls – one of the most beautiful natural wonders of northern New Brunswick – as well as Oasapegel Heritage Park and its natural beauty.

Be sure to join the festivities in early July, when the community hosts their annual Pow-wow. Don’t forget to drop by the Pabineau Seafood Restaurant, where their fresh lobster rolls are a favourite of locals and tourists alike.

Local Service Districts

Local Service Districts

Surrounding the different municipalities of the Chaleur Region are the Local Service Districts. This is where you’ll find the hidden gems of the region, such as the historical Nepisiguit Mi’gmaq Trail.

Breathtaking views along Route 134 heading to Salmon Beach will make your reach for your camera more than once. A simple walk near Bird Island at Pokeshaw Beach will transport you to another world.

The hiking and snowshoeing trails are abundant, not to mention the snowmobile connection to the Northern Odyssey trails. It’s also where you’ll find unique adventures, including dogsledding, river tubing and salmon fishing, to name only a few!
